The Kick Room

About The Kick Room

A small Irish shop for useful everyday things — chosen deliberately, described honestly, priced without games.

The idea

Most of what gets sold online is filler: near-identical items, photographed once in a warehouse, described in copy nobody wrote and nobody read. You buy it, it’s fine for a fortnight, and then it lives in a drawer.

The Kick Room is the opposite of a catalogue. We stock a deliberately small range across 10 areas of the house, and every item has to justify its place against everything else we could have picked instead.

How something gets stocked

We start with a large pool of candidates and score each one on nine factors before it can be considered. The weights aren’t a secret:

  • Demand evidence — 0.2%
  • Margin potential — 0.2%
  • Supplier reliability — 0.15%
  • Shipping economics — 0.1%
  • Social/video potential — 0.1%
  • Competitive opening — 0.1%
  • Customer appeal — 0.05%
  • Upsell potential — 0.05%
  • Return-risk safety — 0.05%

A score is a prioritisation tool, not a promise. It tells us where to look closely; it doesn’t tell us a product is good. Anything that clears the bar still gets checked by hand for build quality, realistic delivery times and whether the claims made about it survive contact with reality.

How we ship

We don’t hold a warehouse. Orders go directly to the supplier or warehouse that stocks the item, which is why delivery takes a little longer than a same-day giant and why prices aren’t inflated to cover shelf space we don’t rent.

We’d rather tell you that plainly than pretend there’s a big building somewhere with your parcel in it. Realistic estimates are on the delivery page and on each product.

Things we won't do

  • No countdown timers or “3 people are viewing this”. If something’s low in stock the page says the real number, because it comes from the actual stock count.
  • No invented reviews. A product page shows reviews only when real customers have written them. Until then it shows nothing at all, rather than a suspicious row of five stars.
  • No fake “was” prices. A struck-through price has to be one we genuinely charged for at least 30 days.
  • No health claims we can’t stand over. A cushion is comfortable. It does not cure anything.
  • No supplier copy. Every description here was written for this shop.

Getting in touch

Questions, problems, or a product you think we should look at — the contact page reaches a person, not a queue.
