Status
The colourway the NBA fined Michael Jordan $5,000 a game for wearing — black and red, no white, a palette that started with the Air Ship and became the Jordan 1 Bred legend. The 2016 retro is the most faithful recreation of that moment.

The Story
Bred / Banned · 2016
In the 1984–85 NBA season the league fined Michael Jordan $5,000 per game for wearing a shoe that violated the uniform colour rule — a rule the NBA had never previously enforced to this degree. Nike paid every fine and built an advertising empire from the ban. The 2016 'Banned' retro was the most faithful recreation of that original colourway to date: no white on any panel, all black-and-red leather, the exact last of the '85 original. If you own one Jordan 1, this is the one.
