The Story
MCA University Blue · 2019
Made exclusively for a Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago benefit auction in June 2019, the 'MCA' AF1 is not a general release and never was. Virgil Abloh — a Chicago native and MCACHICAGO board member — created the University Blue colourway specifically for the event. One hundred pairs were produced; each was auctioned individually to raise funds for the museum. Pairs that surface on the aftermarket almost always trace back to the original 100 auction winners. It is the most Chicago shoe Virgil ever made, and arguably his most personal Nike.
