About the set
Battle Partners is the ninth main Scarlet & Violet expansion, released in Japan on 24 January 2025 with 132 cards — 100 in the standard set plus 32 secrets. It brought back the Trainer's Pokémon mechanic, pairing the series' best-known characters with the Pokémon they battle alongside and printing them as trainer-and-Pokémon ex cards with dedicated Special Art Rare treatments. Its contents were later folded into the English release Journey Together, which is why the Japanese box is followed so closely by collectors outside Japan — it is the earlier print of the same artwork.
